Does anyone know the cause of this particularly horrid graphic artifact with the window shadow?

As you can see the shadow is completely missing from the top edge, I see this whenever windows overlap each other. I've tried Pclinuxos (and Ubuntu) several times in the last few years, on different machines with different graphics cards, with compositing enabled and I seem to recall seeing this particular artifact on just about every single installation.

Does anyone else see this, does anyone know how to get rid of it?

I'm running Pclinuxos 2010 Gnome, fully updated. Compiz and Emerald are launched by adding command entries for

fusion-icon

and

emerald --replace

in the Startup Applications Preferences. And I'm using the Enduro Black theme.
