USB VidCap Audio issue [SOLVED]

Postby gb5uqx » Sat Mar 26, 2011 3:02 pm

Hi folks long time no see :)

I'm not sure if this is a video or sound topic to be honest.

I have just come across one of those Easycap USB devices and it works, kinda. It captures video great in VLC but there is no audio despite /dev/easysnd0 being present. I read there is sometimes a conflict with snd_usb_audio so I've blacklisted that module but I still can't get no sound.

This is real confusing coz before I updated the kernel I had sound but no video !!!. I also read of folks having no probs at all with this device. I must be doing somethng wrong.

There's some useful info here:

also this guy used modprobe em28xx card=2 to fix the missing audio issue:

I tried all the suggestions I found, and there are a LOT of suggestions but had the same issue as many seem to face. No Sound!.

It seems that the problem is most likely the easycap driver that now comes with the kernel 2.6.37. The video driver works fine but the sound driver must be broken.

I have installed another easycap Linux driver from sourceforge after rolling back to the previous kernel, and it all works perfectly.
