Add a printer

Postby BruceB52 » Sun Feb 19, 2012 10:18 pm

Got the new MMXII version of Gnome PCLinuxOS. I have clicked on Manage your Printer, but the window goes away after a second. Other distros have been fairly simple to add a printer. My printer is on the network with an IP address and I can browse to it. How do you set it up in this distro? Thanks.

Hi BruceB52

You need to install the printer drivers.
Start synaptic (Applications->Software Center). Click the Reload button (upper left) and wait for the software lists to be updated. Then click Custom (lower left) and select tasks above. You will get a list of printer drivers. Choose yours and click Apply then confirm, and wait for the installation to complete. Then retry your printer setup.
