su - does not work

Postby Greyscale » Sun Apr 26, 2009 11:21 pm

This is a strange one.

Fresh install of PCLOS Gnome

Typing su - in terminal returns this:

su: user - does not exist

using either su or su -l does prompt for password and allows root priveleges.

Weird. I thought I was going crazy ...

Is having this alias installed by default now a standard across all Linux distros, or just an attempt to stupify PCLinuxOS to make it friendly for newbies?

No.
I don't know about the second part... I guess that was the intention...

wasn't each genetic modification once an error? I am for keeping it..
at some point in the future I will suggest rename the distro in "NoCLI Ultimate" :P
