Thunderbird/Evolution???

Postby kamicota » Thu Nov 03, 2011 5:17 pm

Hi all

Both of these email programs are giving problems ie:-

Thunderbird would not Send on a pop/smtp server

Evolution today would NOT delete any messages

Both of these are or were on versions of PCLos Zen

Any ideas on something more reliable in this area.

Cheers for years

Not sure about Evolution, but was using Thunderbird on Zen on one of my boxes a few days ago, and had no problems. What error were you getting when trying to send? Are you sure you had details correct?

Hi kamicota

I have never used evolution, but I have used tbird on pclos for years. I use it daily on zen-mini. My first thought would be an account setup issue.

Thank SC & wdm

SC - TB would not send any emails - this was on Zen 2011.9 - but that computer is now Zen remaster 11.11.1 - and using Evolution successfully so far.

wdm - that may be so - as my ISP requires - mail.shaw.ca - put in the SMTP section - yet curiously this has always worked in other distros that have been frequently installed.

Cheers for Years

Glad you have evolution working now. Maybe the problem is with zen2011.9, I have not tried that one. I'm using zen 2010 fully updated to 2011 including kernel. Everything is working fine here. :)

This has nothing to do with the OS, as the problem could only be with email apps or account setup (which is the most likely to be)
