Problem with access to the preference of the Nautilus

Postby rjbgbo » Fri Sep 11, 2009 7:22 pm

Hi
I'm brazilian and used to 3 years for the exclusive use of Ubuntu.
In Nautilus file browser I am not able find the gconf-editor, where I leave enabled access to the Preferences menu, which is closing the window automatically, when the access.
Would this key: /apps/nautilus/preferences/show_advanced_permissions
But what specifically?
Thanks

Yes this is a recent problem we are having and looking for a solution.
Probably the gtk+2.16.6 is causing it and we are not the only ones with it.

rjbgbo,

As said here:

http://linuxgator.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&p=11381

you could use gconf-editor (or System > Preferences > Configuration Editor), navigate to apps > nautilus > preferences and modify the keys there (tick, untick boxes... whatever...) according to your taste. Same result.

regards,

Don

You do not have the items in this key in Gnome 2.26.3

You're wrong. All nautilus preferences are available through gconf-editor in 2.26.3 and any other version as a matter of fact. If you were familiar with Gnome you'd know that all preferences (nautilus, desktop and all other apps etc) are in fact gconf keys. You could even set your gconf keys manually if you wanted to... all you have to do is edit some .xml files :). Nautilus ones are here: ~/.gconf/apps/nautilus/*
So, as I said, everything is available through gconf-editor. I could post a screen-shot but I have no time to upload pictures etc..
