MPlayer/ libchroedinger Error

Postby jmg1213 » Mon Feb 22, 2010 5:12 pm

I had made some updates to my system and mplayer stopped working. I removed and reinstalled and get the same error, as follows:

mplayer: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libschroedinger-1.0.so.0: undefined symbol: oil_function_class_ptr_avg2_32xn_u8

Any clue on how to fix this? I love Linux, but I am a novice. Thanks.

Open synaptic reload and apply updates. Then search or see if you have libschroedinger1.0_0 installed.
If not install it. :)

Yes, libschroedinger1.0_0 is installed. I even tried to reinstall it with no luck.

It is working for me here? Did you do a reload & then apply updates as you can't update in pieces.
Updating in pieces will just get you in trouble with the libraries (where you seem to be now).
If you did then change to another repo & reload again and then try to update again.

I tried what you recommended, but it did not help. I get the same error.

Searching the web, I found the problem. I needed to update liboil0.3_0. Somehow this is associated with mplayer and libschroedinger1.0_0. Thought I would post this so it may help others.
