Hi, Plop boot manager is a program free for use, built with some free software in it, which allows bypassing the BIOS. You can have it here: http://www.plop.at/en/bootmanager.html

If you don't know what to download and burn, you can get an image prepared by Just18 which I keep here:
http://tyruiop.eu/~melodie/Downloads/PlopCDImage

He also selected the file needed to get a floppy image, which I also keep here:
http://tyruiop.eu/~melodie/Downloads/FloppyImage

I hope now you can boot from USB, in any computer PC.

Made the PlopCDImage on an ISO, it starts up to give me the USB start possibility, but it gives an error on starting up the Live USB. Did I do something wrong?

Edit: Yes I did. USB ISO was not working. Made new one. Now it started, but the problem with a black screen remains. Will have to search further.

If all else fails you only have 2 option :
1. Forget about acpi and boot with safe mode. Now you could install but no acpi, including battery and Fn button.
2. Boot with Vesa, got the acpi but forget 'bout 3D. Just remember, sometimes you'll got out of screen. Why? Because your system detected maximum resolution but can't find any driver for it. :(

Hi,
Anyhow Fritz can't expect excellent display with a Unichrome card. They belong to the lowest quality range.
Via Unichrome pro Graphic Card 64Mb

Another graphic card would probably help, provided he succeeds installing first.

Tried Vector Linux (wifi problems) and finally installed Ubuntu 11.10. No problems with both with my screen.

Frits have you tried aptosid and siduction, both based on debian unstable just like ubuntu. Both recognize all my hardware, but siduction can't recognize my hardware. Siduction use kernel 3.1.6 which drains my battery. I prefer aptosid eventhough the repository server was really slow compare to siduction. :)

No, I did not. I think I will stay at Ubuntu 11.10 untill a new PCLOS Gnome 32 bit arrives.

I prefer ZEN, but that is not possible at the moment. Never mind, I still use it on my Eee. :D

Okay finally get the highest resolution just like Zen Mini 2011.7 (though Zen Mini doesn't make me run safeboot and played with XFdrake). Now I need to find driver for my bluetooth.

Thanks Dragynn for your magnificent remaster, wish it would run better on my sandy bridge machine. :D

Regards,
RM

Finally manage to install pae kernel and a64 kernel, but I loose zen plymouth. How do I get the plymouth back? :(

Could there be a problem to add for instance task KDE or Phoenix in 11-11-11?

Uninstall previous, install plymouth pclinuxos, reboot, install zen plymouth. It should work. If not, boot a Live Zen, and replace /boot/gfxboot, all images and files in /usr/share/plymouth/theme/* by the ones which are in the same place in the Live CD. (Including symlink...)

Replace the ones in Zen directory theme as well as the ones in PCLinuxOS theme by the relevant ones (ie : /usr/share/theme/Zen/boot/message file)

Yes, you will get a very bloated install. Do that with an Openbox, it will be more relevant as you will get either a Kde or a Xfce with a light window manager. But you can do it with Zen : no technical problem should arise. Some have 4 different desktop managers in their system.
