Open source adoption on the rise in the French government

http://www.h-online.com/open/news/item/Open-source-adoption-on-the-rise-in-the-French-government-1546061.html
Where education is concerned, Sarkozy said that he is "inclined" to favour open source solutions in education but that it is not a priority for him; Hollande indicated that it would be very much a priority in his administration. Hollande wants to change the role of students from being consumers of information technology to becoming creators who are able to write and "decipher" source code.

If the new PCLinuxOS team does not want me anymore, I'll have more free time when I find a job. ;-)

I just hope they will be nice with the people who are using the versions I did so far. (Il looks like I get a ban too, tonight... what did I do wrong again ? Nothing : I helped someone in the remaster section at about 3.30 pm my time today !)

Where ever you should end up I will continue with using OpenBox on my laptop. Just remember to provide us with links to where you are.

I have seen this type of behavior before in other Linux distributions and forums, rather childish. But that is the way they want to be.
Just laughing my butt off at how they want to lower themselves to the level of children.

Hi kay9hd,

I'm nearby. I will not forget all the encouragements and the pleasure you and a group of other people have had when you discovered what can be done with Openbox. :)

Hi Radicallymostlem,
Thank you, and thanks to all for your nice words.

I would divide minimum by two the time the children need to assist to courses. They have to be there from 8 am to 5 pm, and then have additional homework, in classrooms where they are currently 30 pupils minimum and the quality of the scolarship and success is lower and lower.

The teachers and school directors complain about the situation, government after government the management methods of scholarship are reviewed for the worse, and I know about other schools, private and even quite expensive, where they get the best results with just 3 courses or 4 max per day, each morning and each day the same, 15 max students in each classroom and the children are happy, getting the best results, in classrooms where they have courses fit to their level, so that they are able to get the best out of it.

So you can start voting for me. :D

/ongoto, thanks for the link, that was very interesting !

I send you my regrets about that. I indeed wonder what cosmic ray has hit them. I could see you were always sticking to the most conventional methods used in the distribution and just wanted it "as it has always been, strong and stable", which is a point of view that I understand perfectly. All know you have produced a professional quality work with all the graphics you have provided, and done your best with the Xfce versions that many users have appreciated a lot.

I also regretted they removed the answers from Just18 and Ferdes Fides from one thread I had started before blocking it, because they gave me good ideas which would have led me to make all the versions I did under the name "pclinuxos" 100% compliant.

Next, I plan to start a new project... for a more opened community. I am waiting for some news from friends to get in touch before starting working on it.

Wishing you a nice day,
Mélodie

I am sorry to hear of this happening to you.

Is the exiting of the people beginning? For now it is not by choice, I wonder when they will start to leave on their own? :( Sad because it is a great O/S.

Just an observation, I have noticed that the May issue of the PClinuxOS Magazine has several articles about Gnome 2.32 But there are no links to download the PClinuxOS-Gnome on the main site and if anyone should post asking for help about a problem and happens to mention Gnome, the thread is locked and they are immediately told to post here in the PClos-Gnome forums.

Unbelievable what's going on. There is not a trace on the main forum of any objections to or discussion of any of this stuff.

The standings on DistroWatch for the last 30 days are very telling though. It shows PCLinuxOS at 17. People are losing interest, fast.

I would have said straight "moved to /dev/null".

The image you give with "twilight zone" is very interesting. From Wikipedia (I know the series but reading the description anyhow brings more):
The Twilight Zone is an American television anthology series created by Rod Serling. Each episode (156 in the original series) is a mixture of self-contained drama, psychological thriller, fantasy, science fiction, suspense, or horror, often concluding with a macabre or unexpected twist.

...

Now I understand why you have been locked out. You are not the sheep kind, and have personality. That is well.

It is much better imo than seeing the list of people giving allegiance the way they do, at the tester recruit thread... which gives me a strange and uncomfortable feeling... (I also use ... a lot when I hesitate as for what I will say).

The attitude in the other forum leaves some to be desired. Having more people is no excuse to be little Nazi's about things and carry on like children. If you can't be reasonable and somewhat mature then you have no place being a Mod. That the main site still claims to be "community driven" does not seem to be factual anymore, and if it is, then I shake my head at such "community". The reason I keep coming back here IS the community. :)
Remember this, the only stupid question is the one you don't ask.

"The thing about changing the world... is that once you do it, the world's all different."

Let's share our knowledge. Otherwise, what's the point?

When I look into my crystal ball I think of one word. "downsizing"

Whether it be packaging, funding, finding 2 people to do Tex's work
and watching their learning curve.

Delegating other work around the team. One day you can be God
Almighty and the next day be an unnecessary expenditure of money,
time, and resources.

The customer's are always right and most liked OpenBox, Edu, and my
deliberately short-lived Rescue CD project (which will probably end up
an inexpensive Wiki entry). At least OpenBox was well tested during that
time, so not all things are bad. I still have 004Kids on the menu, don't
know if it still works, tho. But that "downsizing" is supposed to have
greater benefits.

Have a good one.

Hi Ferdes Fides,
I have regretted the downsizing and the distro getting back to lower than what it was reaching (imho many flavors is good, reducing is bad), but I intend to cook an Openbox recipe for several other well known distributions. Because we, users, are worth it ! :D
