What's the difference between...?

Postby gnomeman » Tue May 06, 2008 6:04 am

Hi all,
I was wondering what is the difference between MakeLive CD (remaster in the System menu) and the "mklivecd" script that is run from command?

I noticed that there is two different scrips in etc/sbin for each one. I always assumed they were the same. Is there different functionality to each?

The menu entry is another script which makes use of mklivecd under the hood. It is supposed to provide a GUI - easy to use - interface to mklivecd. For more details open the two scripts in a text editor and have a look.

It's not there any more.

The current method of remastering is to install mylivecd and draklive-install via synaptic and then follow these instructions...

I am all but certain that I never did, yet I have an icon entitled
mylivecd-0.9.3-3pclos2010.i586.rpm in my File System.

At this point, I think I will wait until I get the new release before trying to remaster.

HarzVieh:
I realized I had replied to a thread that was over two years old but I figured it was worth doing so, in order that others who find it just as I did will get the updated info and be spared the confusion and trouble I went through in trying to find the "Make Live CD" feature. (which I had heard of prior to finding this thread, from more than one source)
