thread clearing

Postby ME-MYSELF-I » Sat Jun 07, 2008 9:03 am

this forum is a little strange to me in that once I've read a thread it continues to show in the list of unread threads since last visit.

to date the only way I've found to clear this list is to log out and then back in. To me this is a bit tedious or over kill, how ever ya want to put it.

Just curious!

Hmm, seems to be no way to view a list of posts for the last 24 hr period either.

pretty bare bones forum ware or else you don't have a lot of things activated from your end.

Maybe you have a problem there as it works OK here. Never had that kind of issue...

I know nothing about that feature... maybe slick50 knows if that is available...

OK, as to clearing. It does eliminate the little yellow icon, but still leaves the thread in the list. I guess I'm used to other forums that once you've read the thread is no longer shows. Must have something to do with the fact that is a thread posted to since my last logged in visit.

Too many variables on the backside of a forum. from other forums and talking with adm people I do know most have many on/off variables.

I suppose I will get used to it.

There's also the software used to run this whole stuff... Some forums use phpBB-3 or some other stuff so not all options are the same for everyone... We are on phpBB 2.0.22

Ok, hit view new posts

read one or two of them and then hit view new posts again and the ones ya read are still there. Just not showing the check mark in the icons anymore.

The only way I've found to clear them is to log out and then back in and that clears everything whether I've read them or not.

I've found posts remain as unread if I go directly back to the main index after reading. Back out by category first and it is shown as read (flag is gone). [edit - I do see that clicking "view new posts" still shows the ones I've read. Maybe "new" is determined by date when it would be better if determined by whether they've been opened.]
